The best womens hiking pants
REI Co-op Trailmade Pull-On Pant
Sizing: comes in petite, tall, and regular sizes, and range from XS – 3X
Price: $70
The thing I love about the REI Trailmade Pull-On Pant is that they’re super lightweight and quick to dry, which means they’re comfortable for hiking in hot weather and also great for activities like SUPing and rafting. I would describe the fit as generous, with wide legs and an adjustable waistband, and REI carries these in a wide range of sizes.
Fjällräven Nikka Trouser
Sizing: 26” – 37” (comes in long, and can be hemmed for free in-store)
Price: $180
The material of the Fjällräven Nikka Trouser is thick and super durable (but still stretchy!), making them great for more technical and rocky hikes. They also have lots of secure pockets for gear and snacks, and the waistband can accommodate a belt. These are the most expensive hiking pants I own, but I also know they’ll last me the longest!
Topo Designs Global Jogger
Sizing: XS-XL
Price: $99
The Global Jogger from Topo Designs is both stylish and water repellant, which is a great combo for hiking on cloudy days! They have 5 handy pockets (3 of which have zippers on them), and the material is thicker than the REI trailmade pants without being overly heavy. I’ll note that the ankles have a fairly slim fit, so if your ankles run large you may want to look elsewhere.
Royal Robin Spotless Evolution Pant
Sizing: XS-XL
Price: $100
The Spotless Evolution pants by Royal Robin are some of the most comfortable hiking pants I own – the material is buttery soft, and also dries quickly! They also have deep pockets. The thing that REALLY sets these pants apart is that, after hiking, you can easily dress them up for dinner or travel, which makes them super versatile. I’ll note that the waist band isn’t adjustable, so they might not work for everyone.
Toad and Co Trailscape Pant
Sizing: XS-XL
Price: $95
The Trailscape Pant by Toad and Co is somewhat comparable to REI’s “trailmade” pant, but with a high waist and a slightly different cut that makes it easier to dress up for in-town wear. They’re also quick dry, and also have adjustable sinches on the bottom of each pant leg.
PrAna Halle Straight Pant
Sizing: comes in petite, tall, and regular sizes, and range from 00 -13
Price: $95
I’ve owned a pair of the PrAna Halle Straight for nearly a decade and they’re still going strong. They’re comfortable, hold up well over time, and have some of the best fit of any pair of hiking pants I own (probably because they’re one of the only brands that has hiking pants designed for a 24” waist size). However, they do stretch out between wears, which isn’t ideal for activities like backpacking.
