6 Weekend Getaways from Seattle
Leavenworth, WA
Distance from Seattle: 2 hours
Located two hours from Seattle, Leavenworth is an adorable Bavarian-themed town tucked amongst the Cascade Mountains. Leavenworth is most famous for their wintery Christmas vibes, but it’s a beautiful place to visit all year round! It’s the perfect place for a romantic getaway, or a fun girl’s weekend.
In Leavenworth you’ll find German style restaurants and breweries, along with an abundance of cute shops. Our favorites include a Christmas shop and the Nutcracker Museum! There are also an abundance of cute lodging options, including fancy hotels and cute cabins. For food I recommend checking out Yodelin Broth Co. and Whistlepunk Ice Cream Co.! Make sure to grab a drink at Icicle Brewing Company, and check out the beautiful hikes and snowshoeing trails in the area. We love Colchuck Lake and the Enchantment Traverse!
Port Angeles, WA
Distance from Seattle: 2.5 hours
Located on the Olympic Peninsula, Port Angeles is the perfect weekend getaway from Seattle. This area is known as the gateway to Olympic National Park, so there are lots of incredible outdoor recreation opportunities. These include kayacking, waterfall chasing, and tons of hikes! You can also bike along the famous Olympic Discovery Trail. In town you’ll find tons of cute shops and amazing restaurants. Don’t miss the pastries and sandwiches at Buena Luz Bakery! It’s a must-visit foodie stop.

Everett is one of the most convenient weekend getaways from Seattle if you don’t want to drive far! This charming coastal town has great food and an adorable downtown. In summer visitors can enjoy a short ferry ride to Jetty Island, or blueberry and flower picking at local farms.

Portland, OR
Distance from Seattle: 3 hours
Looking to escape the hustle and bustle of Seattle for something a little more quirky and relaxed? Head to Portland! This beautiful city has tons of great food, a gorgeous Japanese garden, tons of urban parks, and loads of arts and culture. Especially if you’re a foodie, I would say that Portland is one of the best weekend getaways from Seattle! Read our full 48 hour Portland itinerary.
Looking to ditch your car for the weekend? You can take Amtrak down to Portland and rely on TriMet, Portland’s local transit system, to get around town. I used to ride TrimMet every day and can confirm it’s awesome.
Vancouver, WA
Distance from Seattle: 2.5 hours
Because it’s so close to Portland, Vancouver Washington often gets overlooked as a destination for a weekend getaway, but I’m here to convince you that Vancouver is actually the PERFECT spot for a weekend getaway! You’ll find many of the same iconic restaurants and businesses that you find in Portland, and way less traffic. The newly re-designed waterfront area is super charming, and there are also great outdoor recreation opportunities nearby, including several beautiful waterfalls, Beacon Rock, and Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge (which is great for bird watching).

Spokane is seriously underrated as a Pacific Northwest travel destination! Located 4 hours from Seattle, Spokane is the perfect “east side” getaway from Seattle. There is an abundance of good food (at a fraction of Seattle prices!), a charming downtown, and lots of green space you can explore both in and around the city.
